More on our Bible Studies and Confirmation Classes and Ministry
Saint Alban’s Women’s Ministry (SAW)
St. Alban’s Women (SAW) is a multi-generational group of Christian women who meet for Fellowship and Bible Study. This is the perfect time to try a Virtual Bible Study while still trying to meet quarterly for Fellowship – a hybrid model for SAW! After our first meeting we will meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month.
We are sponsoring a women’s study for Lent: a four-part study of Lee Strobel’s “The Case for Easter.” Schedule and study materials available from SAW Leader Kathy Pierce or on the narthex table.
Questions? Ready to join the Virtual St. Alban’s Women Bible Study? Contact Kathy Pierce.
Saint Alban’s Men’s Group (SAMs)
St. Alban’s Men’s Group (SAMs) meets every Friday morning from 8am to 9:30am for Bible study, breakfast, prayer, and fellowship at the church or via Zoom conferencing. (We will hopefully be back to Dick’s Diner, Rt 22 Murrysville after COVID vaccinations–we have been meeting at Dick’s for 14 1/2 years). We use Bible studies with an Anglican perspective by noted authors N.T. Wright, John Stott, Tim Keller, J.I. Packer, and others. SAMs just completed The Practice of the Presence of God featuring letters and conversations of the famed monastic Brother Lawrence, 1610-1691, including parallel scripture studies. We are now reading the Daily Lectionary scriptures every Friday together that are emailed to the men every Monday. Questions? Call Fred Carlson (412) 856-0982.
Confirmation Class and Reception
Saint Alban’s Lay Catechist team is leading a confirmation class during 2020-2021-to be confirmed by Interim Bishop Minns in the Christian faith on May 9, 2021–if our schedule holds up. Your youth is welcome to join our other catechumens if they are so called to affirm a mature declaration of their faith in Jesus-we use the Anglican catechism “To Be A Christian” and other Bible-based resources.
If you, as an adult, wish to be received into the Anglican Communion you can ask for this at the Bishop’s visit May 9, 2021, after a brief set of Newcomers’ Classes that can be arranged at mutually convenient times. If you have youth in your household between the ages of 12 and 18 who wish to declare their faith publicly at confirmation please let Father David know so we can schedule them into the 2020-2021 youth sessions.
